‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2’ Hits $2-B Worldwide in 2 Weeks!

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" is the first in the franchise to surpass $1 billion and doing so only in two weeks.

After breaking several box-office records on its opening three weeks ago, Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 became the first film in the franchise to reach the $1 billion mark worldwide.

The final “Harry Potter” film, on Saturday, has grossed $296 million in the US and $630 million overseas for a global total of $926 million. Come Sunday (US time), it’s being expected to easily pass the vaunted $1 billion mark.

The highest-grossing in the franchise was still the first installment, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” By the end of this weekend, Deathly Hallows Part 2 should surpass Sorcerer’s Stone’s domestic gross of $317 million. It also will have surpassed the $659 million earned last year internationally by Deathly Hallows Part 1.
