In their efforts to shatter the “unhealthy” image of their product line, McDonalds announced on Tuesday that it would add apple slices and reduce the portion of French Fries in its children’s “Happy Meal.”
This means consumers will no longer have a choice between either having apples with caramel dip or fries as a Happy Meal side. McDonald’s also said they are reducing sugars, saturated fats and calories in its main menu items.
McDonalds also made some “nutritional” moves in the past which include the addition of oatmeal and vegetable salad in its product line. This is after fast food chains have been criticized by health officials as a significant cause of childhood obesity and other health-related problems.
