Azkals vs Kuwait

Kuwait spoiled the Philippines’ bid to advance to the next round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers on Thursday night during the second leg of their tie at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

The Kuwaitis scored a 2-1 win during the match for a 5-1 aggregate tally that will take them to the third round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The Azkals (in white) scored the first goal at halftime courtesy of mid-fielder Stephan Schrock to the delight of the crowd. Unfortunately, Kuwait (in blue) was able to equalize the leaderboard in the early minutes of the second half courtesy of Yousef Nasser.

The visitors showcased a fantastic defense and barred the Azkals’ aggressiveness in meeting their target of 4 goals. And to add insult to injury, the Al-Azraq scored another goal at the 84th minute of the match courtesy of Rob Gier finishing the game with the scores 2-1 on the leaderboard in favor of the visitors.

Azkals coach Michael Weiss commended the Philippine team for its valiant effort against the Kuwaiti squad.

“I want to congratulate my team for a fantastic effort,” he said.

The Philippines now have 4 years to prepare for the 2018 World Cup Qualifier.

Right after the match, Kuwait is now 95th in the world ranking while the Philippine Azkals dropped to no. 162.

Meanwhile, neighboring country–Indonesia–was able to beat Turkmenistan in their tie-breaking match with an aggregate score of 5 over 4 and became the first Southeast Asian country to advance to the third round of Asian (AFC) qualifier.

Myanmar, Vietnam and Laos also failed to advance while Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore are still playing their respective 2nd leg matches at this very moment.

Casey Anthony Mask

A latex mask resembling the recently acquitted “tot mom” has been sold on eBay for nearly $1 million!

The Casey Anthony mask, according to the seller, was one of only nine “sculpted to precision for a parody video by enigmatic pop artist/sculptor Torro.”

Here is the eBay description of the mask:

“Forget Freddy, Jason, Meyers, here’s your chance to scare the *#&% out of everyone and win every costume contest with this amazing Tot Mom latex rubber mask, possibly the most frightening mask on the planet. And I can almost guarantee it’s the ‘only’ Casey mask on the planet.”

The mask shows a relatively expressionless Casey Anthony, staring ahead, lips closed and her hair tied back – a look that she became famous for as she stood on trial for the the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.

The winning 105th bid, which was placed on Wednesday at 6:33pm, was totaled at $999,900.

Trojan Asteroid Discovered Sharing Earth’s Orbit

July 29, 2011 by · Comments Off

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has discovered that Earth has an asteroid companion traveling just ahead of our planet as it orbits the sun. It will reportedly remain tied to our planet for at least ten thousand years.

The new-found asteroid, called 2010 TK7, is nearly 1,000 feet (300 meters) across and currently leading the Earth by about 50 million miles (80 million kilometers).

The asteroid is the first in a category known as Earth’s Trojans, a family of space rocks that could potentially be easier to reach than the moon, even though its member asteroids can be dozens of times more distant, researchers said. Such asteroids, which have long been suspected but not confirmed until now, could one day be valuable destinations for missions, especially loaded as they might be with elements rare on Earth’s surface, they added.

This so-called Trojan asteroid could serve as a stepping stone to celestial objects farther afield.

“If we can find similar things for Earth, then they would be pretty low-energy targets to get to, and that would be an interesting opportunity to have,” said Martin Connors, an astronomer at Athabasca University in Canada and one of the co-discoverers of the object.
