700 Cats Get Couple Charged with Hoarding

A couple from Florida was charged with hoarding nearly 700 cats.

Pennie and Steven Lefkowitz was each charged with 35 counts of animal cruelty for keeping 700 cats at Haven Acres Cat Sanctuary. According to the Humane Society, this is one of the biggest hoarding cases that they have ever dealth with.

The couple was charged for housing the felines in a warehouse and for putting down 100 of them. They said they legitimately tried to help the felines, but the poor condition of the shelter and by taking in too many, they ended up hurting the cats.

The cats will be made available for adoption next week.
