ABS-CBN's flagship newscast "TV Patrol" is nominated in the news category of the 2011 International Emmy Awards.

TV Patrol’s extensive coverage of the August 23, 2010 Manila hostage crisis where 9 Hong Kong tourists where killed is one of the 4 finalists in the news category of the 2011 International Emmy Awards.

TV Patrol is vying against Brazil’s “Jornal Nacional, Iceland’s “RUV News,” and the United Kingdom’s “SkyNews Live.”

Only the finalists in the news and current affairs categories have been revealed on the official website of the International Emmy Awards.

The finalists in the current affairs category, on the other hand, are “21st Century: Cambodia – A Quest for Justice” by UNTV, “The Assassination of Jean Charles Meneses” by Discovery Networks Latin America (Brazil), “Back from the Brink: Inside the Chilean Mine Disaster” by NHK (Japan) and “Unter Piraten” by infonetwork GmbH (Germany.)

The finalists in other categories will be revealed soon.
