The premiere telecast of "Maria la Del Barrio" garnered a high rating nationwide.

ABS-CBN’s newest teleserye “Maria La Del Barrio” heated up the screens of Filipinos in the country as its national TV ratings fired up to 22.5% on its premier, or almost twice the rating of its rival “Futbolilits” (12%) and had an increase the next day (Aug. 16) having gained a national TV rating of 23% as compared to the 12.9% GMA’s “Futbolilits” had, based on the data of Kantar Media.

The show also created a buzz in the online world since its premiere and even trended on Twitter from Monday (Aug. 15) to Wednesday (Aug. 17).

“Maria La Del Barrio,” featuring two of the hottest stars in the industry today, Erich Gonzales as Maria Hernandez, an orphan girl who dreams to meet her one true love and Enchong Dee as Luis Dela Vega, son of a rich business man who takes interest in Maria, will captivate everyone with a story full of love and betrayal.

Also starring in the show are Angel Aquino, Ian Veneracion, Assunta De Rossi, Paw Diaz, Arron Villaflor, and Aiai delas Alas.
