White Castle Restaurant Sued by 290-Pound Man for Bigger Chairs

The White Castle restaurant in New York is being sued by a 290-pound man for bigger seats claiming the chain violated the Americans with Disabilities Act, the New York Post reported on Monday.

64-year-old Martin Kessman, who weighs 290 pounds, wrote a written complain in 2009 saying he couldn’t fit into the stationary booths at the Nanuet White Castle. The man claims the management of White Castle responded with three “very condescending letters” and in each letter was a coupon for three free hamburgers.

Kessman said White Castle promised to put in larger seats, but no action was done for two years now.

He also said that the Americans with Disabilities Act is applicable, not only to him, but also to pregnant women and handicapped people as well.
