Abner Mercado Probes Marcos’ Alleged Ill-Gotten Wealth in ‘Krusada’
September 28, 2011 by cd · 3 Comments
It was only after the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution that the Filipinos learned of the extent of corruption by the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos. The World Bank revealed that he and his cronies reportedly stole P200 billion from public funds, of which only P90 billion has been recovered by the government.
Almost forty years after Marcos declared Martial Law, not one of the Marcoses has been charged with plunder. Some have even secured government posts, including former first lady Imelda Marcos, who currently serves as representative of Ilocos Norte’s second district.
Abner Mercado returns to “Krusada” tomorrow to report on government efforts to retrieve the remaining P110 billion Marcos wealth and the pending corruption cases against the Marcoses.
Abner will visit Ilocos Norte, also dubbed as “Marcos Country,” where he will witness the unrelenting devotion of Ilocanos to the former dictator.
The Marcoses have returned to government service despite repeatedly denying unlawfully acquiring public funds. Have Filipinos learned from the Marcos’ regime’s grave abuse of power?
Listen, take part and be one with Abner Mercado tomorrow (Sep 29) in “Krusada,” after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN, or catch it earlier at 9:15 pm on DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable channel 26).
