No less than the Star for All Seasons and Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto has proposed to erect a Hollywood-like landmark at the Taal Volcano with the word “Batangas.”

According to Batangas Vice Governor Mark Leviste II, the Batangas provincial council has approved the resolution last October 5 in what they call a “hard-to-miss landmark and potential tourism draw” on the province’s famous attraction.

The Vice Governor said the “Batangas” signage would measure 14 meters tall and 110 meters wide using the same font as that of the iconic Hollywood sign in California, USA.

Tagaytay City Mayor Abraham Tolentino, on the other hand, is not in favor of the Hollywood-inspired landmark for the island.

“Why put up a Batangas sign? It won’t help. People, while sipping a cup of coffee, will just say that the view is more beautiful from Tagaytay without that sign,” the mayor said in disagreement.
