Boy Abunda and Ahwel, Hailed as ‘Pillars of Hope’

“Bandila” anchor and “The Buzz” host Boy Abunda and DZMM's "Mismo" anchor Ahwel Paz were honored as two of the “7 Pillars of Hope” by Eton International School-Manila in celebration of United Nations (UN) Day and Children’s Month.

Boy was recognized for his achievements in entertainment and for serving as ambassador for UN Population Fund and Plan Philippines, while Ahwel was acknowledged for his achievements in media and his strong advocacy for street children and Aeta children. The Pillars of Hope Award is given to individuals in various sectors who embody the highest virtues of service and serve as purveyors of hope. Nominees were judged based on their love for God, love for truth, justice, and peace, respect for the natural environment, promotion of positive Filipino values, and love for family and life. Eton International School President Jacqueline Marzan-Tolentino said the honors were given to the country’s “contemporary shakers and movers” students can “emulate and draw inspiration from.”
