Gloria Arroyo’s Tragedy in ‘Patrol ng Pilipino’

Former president and now Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was once loved by Filipinos and even topped popularity polls. Now, she is reviled and deemed as one of the most unpopular presidents in the Philippines. The sudden turn of events in her life recently came as welcome or shocking news to Filipinos.

In a span of one week, Arroyo was stopped from leaving the country. She was admitted back to the hospital and served a warrant of arrest. Who would have thought that after ten years, she will meet the same fate as former president Joseph Estrada?

Tomorrow (Nov 29) in “Patrol ng Pilipino,” news reporter Atom Araullo will find out what Filipinos think of Arroyo’s current misfortunes, especially the sentiments of CGMA’s constituents and close friends.

Meanwhile, Jing Castañeda will also share her experience covering President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III in the recent ASEAN Summit held in Indonesia and will show the difficulties of covering an event where powerful heads of states are in attendance.

Jing said reporting on the occasion is no easy task because the president made testimonies linked with government policies. “Reporting both the positive and negative effects of the president’s decision is a huge responsibility to Filipinos. My report is useless if I’m not able to show these effects,” she said.

Find out the stories behind the news tomorrow (Nov 29) in “Patrol ng Pilipino” after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN, or watch it earlier on DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable ch. 26), 9:15 PM.
