Catch the Live Announcement of Oscar 2012 Nominees on Velvet

After her Oscar nomination as an outstanding lead actress for the movie “Winter’s Bone” last year, Jennifer Lawrence embarks on a new stint, as she will announce the nominees of the much-awaited 84 th Academy Awards, together with Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) President Tom Sherak.

Velvet (SkyCable Channel 53), the home of the biggest red carpet events, takes pride in airing the live announcement of nominations in a special live feed on Tuesday night (January 24), starting at 9:30p.m.

Lawrence and Sherak are set to reveal the nominees of the 10 major categories out of a total of 24 at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Hundreds of journalists from all over the world are expected to cover this Oscar primer.

Velvet has been offering viewers the best Oscar happenings for several years in a row. That’s why besides the announcement, Velvet will also bring the complete coverage and live telecast of the 84 th Academy Awards on February 27 (Monday), starting at 6:00am. The show will be produced by Brian Grazer and hosted by actor/producer/writer/comedian Billy Crystal.

It’s actually Crystal’s ninth time to host the Oscars. The last time was in 2004 where he was commended for bringing the show a lighthearted humor. Grazer, on the other hand, attempts to give the awards night a more youthful appeal.

“The Academy Awards not only honor the excellence of these movies, but also celebrate what they mean to us as a culture and to each of us individually,” said Sherak in an interview. This year’s tagline, “Life. Camera. Action.” is designed to evoke the emotional connections viewers all have with the movies.
