A 14-pound baby boy named Asher was born naturally last Thursday, January 26, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, as reported by ABCNews.

[Check out the video link of this 14-pound baby at the bottom]
After 6 hours of labor, Kendall Stewardson gave birth to her 14-pound baby, one of the biggest baby born naturally in Iowa, without the help of surgery and epidural injection. This is because Kendall is worried that an epidural or cesarean delivery could endager either her or Asher.
Asher Stewardson measures 23 inches long and weighs about 13 pounds and 13 ounces.
According to statistics, only a tenth of 1 percent of all newborns or 1 in every 1,000 weigh more than 11 pounds at birth making Asher’s measurement of 14 pounds a rare incident.
His older brother, Judah, who is now 15 months old weighed a little more than 12 pounds at birth.

The Prosecution and Defense Panels at Work in ‘Patrol ng Pilipino’
January 31, 2012 by ABS-CBN · Comments Off
Trying to score off each other in Chief Justice Renato Corona’s impeachment trial are his defense team made up with veteran lawyers and a retired justice, and the prosecution composed of young congressmen. Outside the court bubble, how does each team prepare before attending each hearing?
Tonight (Jan 31) in “Patrol ng Pilipino,” meet the members of the defense and the prosecution teams as Jing Castaneda unveils how both intend to perform their tasks in the hearing.
Jing will interview Atty. Tranquil Salvador and Atty. Jose Roy of Corona’s defense team, and Rep. Neri Colmenares, Rep. Erin Tanada, and Rep. Niel Tupas of the prosecution panel. Also get a glimpse of what happens during and behind their press conferences.
Jing stressed the role of the media in the developments of the trial, which she compares to an unruly reality show that has no script.
“The public’s interest in the trial depends on the parties involved – the prosecutors, the defense, the senator-judges, and the media. It’s everyone’s obligation to keep track of the trial because it’s one of the most important aspects of democracy, and to make sure that the court’s decision in the end will be clear, believable, and acceptable,” she pointed out.
Meanwhile, join Jacque Manabat as she takes you to a 3-hour travel with farmers on the newly improved tramline in Sariaya, Quezon. Due to the installation of the cable cars, the 45-minute trek of farmers from their farms to the province’s business center is cut short.
Know the stories behind the news tonight (Jan 31) in “Patrol ng Pilipino” after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN, or watch it earlier on DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable Channel 26), 9: 15 p.m.
