Oscars: ‘Celebrate the Movies in All of Us’

This year, the 84th Academy Awards comes with a promise of having “a little bit of the movies in all of us” as the brightest stars and biggest names in Hollywood will glamorously usher down the red carpet at the Kodak Theatre on the 26th of February 2011.

Velvet, the premiere general entertainment channel and home of the biggest Hollywood red carpet events, will take its viewers in this much anticipated yearly event as it proudly presents a complete coverage and live telecast of the Oscars.

Among the many ways a moviegoer can relate to a film is through the emotions evoked.

The Oscars showed viewers how to laugh in many different ways including how it opened in 2004—that is, as expected, with a comical skit starring the revered funnyman himself, Billy Crystal. This year the comic veteran returns to the stage with a metaphorical cape as he willingly took over the emcee stint after Eddie Murphy’s controversial exit. Taking the drama to a lighter note Crystal says “Am doing the Oscars so the young woman in the pharmacy will stop asking my name when I pick up my prescriptions,” on his twitter account last 11th of November 2011. This marks the ninth time he graces the stage and the oldest, at age 63, since Bob Hope in 1978.

Alongside the announcement of the nominees, Hollywood and the rest of the world is also on its toes on who will be in attendance to present the awards. This includes the man who taught viewers “how to be true to yourself” in Forrest Gump, two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks. The Oscars showed everyone “how to be a maverick” with three-time nominated heartthrob while cruising swiftly in his motorbike, Top Gun star Tom Cruise will be on the show as well. Two more Oscar winning names and favorites will go onstage, Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry. As of writing, joining the list are Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, and the six-star lead cast of “The Bridesmaids.”

Don’t miss the chance to celebrate all the glitz and glamour as it happens starting with the On the Red Carpet: The Arrivals special on Feb. 27, 2012 Monday at 6am followed by Oscars Red Carpet Live at 8am and hosted by Robin Roberts, Tim Gunn, Louise Roe, Jess Cagle, and Nina Garcia. The 84th Academy Awards Main Ceremony will start at 9:30am and the primetime telecast will be on the same day at 6pm.
