Kapatid Stars Clinch Major Awards at 9th Golden Screen Awards for Movies

Kapatid stars have yet again proven their mettle as actors in the silver screen as they ruled the Entertainment Press Inc.’s 9th Golden Screen Awards for Movies held recently.

Aga Muhlach, who is regularly seen in Pinoy Explorer, bagged his second Best Actor trophy this year after he was declared Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role-Drama trophy for his performance in the movie “In the Name of Love.” He was earlier hailed Movie Actor of the Year at the 28th Star Awards for Movies.

Edgar Allan Guzman and Martin Escudero were tied in the Best Performance by an Actor in Musical or Comedy for “Ligo Na U, Lapit Na Me” and “Zombadings 1: Patayin sa Takot si Remington,” respectively. Earlier at Gawad Tanglaw, Kapitan Awesome actor Martin Escudero was hailed Best Actor while Lokomoko star Edgar Allan Guzman was finalist in the same category for the said movies.

Meanwhile, NEWS5 program manager Kristoffer Brugada won the the Best Story trophy for the indie film “Patikul.”

The Golden Screen Awards also conferred the Lino Brocka Lifetime Achievement Award to the one and only Superstar, Ms. Nora Aunor. The said lifetime achievement award was Superstar’s second this year after she was listed among Gawad Tanglaw’s “11 Pinaka Kapuri-puring Artista ng Dekada.”

Following her return to the Philippines late last year, the Superstar has received distinctions from several award-giving bodies including a Lifetime Achievement Award and an Icon of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) from the PMPC Star Awards for Music, the Honorary Originals of Philippine Cinema Award at the Cinema One Originals Independent Film Festival, another Lifetime Achievement Award at the 13th Cinemanila International Film Festival, and Hall of Fame at the Star Awards for TV.
