Documentary ‘E-dukasyon’ Examines Effects of Laptop Use on Student Learning

The country’s educational system faces long-standing problems that serve as impediments to student learning: poverty, hunger, and lack and shortage of classrooms, facilities, books, and even teachers.

In an increasingly technology driven and electronically connected world, Philippine schools are only starting to fully embrace computers to enrich students’ learning experience. Are Filipino students ready for this modern studying tool?

This Sunday (April 1), news reporter Atom Araullo evaluates the efficiency of using laptops in schools when it comes to engaging students’ attention and enhancing their learning experience in ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs’ special documentary, “E-dukasyon.”

Atom will also find out if it is practical to invest in this kind of technology as he checks the effects of the XO laptops on the students of Manuel L. Quezon Elementary School, which was the first beneficiary of child-friendly laptops from Procter & Gamble’s “E-studyante” program.

Does computer education really push children to be more creative and competitive? Are computers the solution to the pressing issues in the country’s educational system?

Watch “E-dukasyon” this Sunday (April 1), after “Gandang Gabi Vice” on ABS-CBN.
