DZMM Helps Sendong Victims Via ‘Kapamilya, Shower Na!’

DZMM, in cooperation with Sagip Kapamilya and the ABS-CBN Regional Network Group, recently took the award-winning program “Kapamilya, Shower Na!” to Cagayan de Oro with the aim of giving the victims of Typhoon Sendong the chance to wash and bathe.

Through the program led by broadcast journalist Ted Failon, the victims received free toiletries and were able to bathe for ten minutes each in a new shower van built by the United Architects of the Philippines.

“DZMM Kapamilya, Shower Na!” was put together during the aftermath of Typhoon Ondoy in 2009 to respond to the hygiene and sanitation needs of the victims.

The program won the Award of the Year for Communication Management and the Award of Excellence in the Special Events category during the 2010 Philippine Quill Awards, which recognize communication programs that exhibit clear objectives and strategies, creative executions and measurable benefits. It also won an Award of Excellence at the 2011 Anvil Awards, which honor outstanding public relations programs and tools.
