The event was part of the American Idol tradition that the final 3 contestants will do hometown visits.

As for Jessica, she was welcomed by thousands of fans in Chula Vista as she rode a procession with a marching band into the stadium of her alma mater, Eastlake High School where she had a mini-concert. She sang “Try a Little Tenderness,” “Stuttering,” “I Will Always Love You,” and “Proud Mary.”

Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox also declared May 12, Saturday, as “Jessica Sanchez Day.”

In the afternoon, Sanchez headed to USS Midway Museum to continue her homecoming celebration. The venue was limited to only 3,500 people.

Here she sang the “US National Anthem,” “Try a Little Tenderness” and “Dance with My Father” where she brought her dad up on stage.

Because of this FB votes from overseas_particularly The Philippines, complaints are now being lodged to AI. Go to youtube to find out more about it.

Thi is AMERICAN IDOL, not Global Idol. Only those in America can vote.

  2. Hi Idolman,
Jessica is far from being arrogant. The arrogance comes from people constantly drumming up her ethnic background as if they need to share her spotlight to make themselves feel adequate.

Jessica Sanchez is first and foremost, an American who happens to have Filipino and Mexican roots.  We should respect her for that.  Besides, I don’t see her to be arrogant in any way.  What we can do is support her for the next two weeks to win, whether through votes (for those living in the US) or through prayers.

    Dear Dean Valdez Santiago,
I agree with Idolfan13, you are indeed very annoying and rude as well! You shouldn’t be allowed to post comments here. You sound very uneducated. Its people like you and your kind of comments that put Filipinos in a bad light. If you can’t say anything good, dont say anything! Keep your bad comments to yourself! If you want to support Jessica, do it without any expectations. Jessica is Filipino and Mexican American as well… Let’s support her because of her awesome talent and not just for her roots.

    Dear Dean Valdez Santiago,
Please let us not bring her mexican or filipino heritage in this. She is an American with Mexican and Filipino ancestry. Let’s leave it at that. She is very proud of who she is. So please STOP your complaints because it does not look good. I know most Filipinos are very proud of her but they are forgetting that she, above all is an AMERICAN. Stop playing the ancestry cards. You are indeed very annoying!

  9. she’s a good singer. she sounds so well. ang hindi ako lang gusto sa kanya ay ang tila mas binibigyan nya ng timbang ang kanyang pagiging mexican kesa sa pagiging pinay. jessica, without the filipino vote, matanggal ka ng natsugi sa contest na.umayos ka!9 di ka naman kagandahan para tila ikahiya ang pahgiging pinay mo!)

  10. It’s still a battle of Fan bases..dear..How many great & deserving singers were left out  just because konti lang nag-vote sa kanila..It’s a popularity contest as well…

  11. .

JESSICA is the Most Popular among Americans..Check Out this article:http://thesummitexpress.blogspot.com/2012/05/jessica-sanchez-is-american-idol-2012.html Note: the writer is encouraging Pinoys in the Phils. to vote..The writer predicted Jessica to win this year!Vote..vote..vote !!!.

Jessica is one of the best in the history of American Idol.

Jessica I am so proud and happy, excited for you.  Stay as humble as you are. You are looking forward for a brighter future.

I mean I agree to jackChua..

  15. Vanhansen_cute // May 14, 2012 at 1:06 am //

I agree to Gerr as much as we wanted Jessica to win but the contest is called American Idol… If there’s someone who has the right to vote and choose the winner  these are the Americans. I believe that this is not a popularity contest anymore since Philipps. Jessica and Joshua are good singers thus it’s now a batlle of talent.

  16. Lloydsolis1991 // May 14, 2012 at 12:59 am //

Nothing really beats the Great FILIPINO talent with a blend of Mexican blood….Bravo to the Asians, Bravo to the Hispanics……..

  17. Anecito Ibay // May 14, 2012 at 12:10 am //

Jessica needs our Votes…don’t be so sure & rely on the American votes…this competition (AI) is not only for the best singer… ? it’s also a popularity ( contest )…Why they’ll question it if she wins ?… this is a ridiculous comment I’ve encountered…I know & a lot of people knows that she’s a good singer and if she wins…that’s the public decision ( people’s power- public )…that’s what I think…

  18. Jackchua11 // May 13, 2012 at 9:36 pm //

No need to vote if you not in the US. This would only mean a hollowed victory if Jessica wins. Her winning could be questioned and challenged. Please do not do this to her. She is already a winner. She will be a great star with humble beginnings.
For the record : Jessica Sanchez is an American with Filipino and Mexican ancestry.
Peace y’all. (I am a Filipino and wants her to win BTW…)
