‘Bawat Hakbang’ by Karl Villuga Named Grand Winner of 1st Philippine Popular Music Festival

Karl Villuga was named grand winner of the first Philippine Popular Music Festival on Saturday, July 14, at the PICC Plenary Hall.

Karl Villuga received the grand prize of P1 million in cash and a trophy as his inspirational song “Bawat Hakbang” was chosen as the winner of the very first Philippine Popular (PhilPOP) Music Festival Sunday night.

The non-winning finalists will each receive P50,000 consolation prize.

The Philippine Popular Music Festival, which was aired on TV5 last night, hopes to provide a channel through which Filipino songwriters can create new songs and discover new expressions or genres in popular music. The organizers also hope to start spark renewed enthusiasm and pride in Filipino music by starting a brand new collection of freshly produced Original Pilipino Music (OPM).
