Colorado Shooting: 12 Killed During a Shooting Rampage Inside a Colorado Theater

Colorado shooting: Tragedy during the midnight screening of “The Dark Knight Rises” killed 12 and injured 38 others on early Friday.

At first, the moviegoers in the Century 16 movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, think the shooting is part of the film. It was already late when they found out that someone is really having a shooting rampage at them.

According to the police, the gunman identified as James Holmes entered the cinema through the emergency exit around 12:30am on July 20. He stood at the front and fired into the crowd.

A survivor told CNN the tragedy happened just 15 minutes after the movie started.

“I think we were 15 minutes in, and there was a chase scene where there was gunfire on screen. And right then out of nowhere on the right side of us we hear a very distinct ‘pop, pop, pop, pop.'” he said.

The police retrieved a rifle, a shotgun and two pistols from the suspect outside the theater after they made the arrest.

President Barack Obama has released a statement regarding the incident:

“Michelle and I are shocked and saddened by the horrific and tragic shooting in Colorado. Federal and local law enforcement are still responding, and my Administration will do everything that we can to support the people of Aurora in this extraordinarily difficult time. We are committed to bringing whoever was responsible to justice, ensuring the safety of our people, and caring for those who have been wounded. As we do when confronted by moments of darkness and challenge, we must now come together as one American family. All of us must have the people of Aurora in our thoughts and prayers as they confront the loss of family, friends, and neighbors, and we must stand together with them in the challenging hours and days to come.”

Celebrities expressed their outrage on the micro-blogging site Twitter and condemned the suspect.
