Plane Crash Caught on Tape in Idaho

August 11, 2012 by

Plane crash caught on tape: A small plane crashing in a remote part of Idaho mountains was captured on video from the passenger’s seat.

The amazing video of a small plane crashing in Idaho wilderness is getting viral.

It was the moment of impact incredibly captured from inside the cockpit of the plane while it happens. While the plane loses attitude, it flips upside down and crashes into trees at the area known as the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness.

The plane has 4 passengers: Leslie Gropp, 70, his son, Tol, and two friends on a hiking trip in the mountains.

The group was taking off from Bruce Meadows Airport on June 30 when all of a sudden, the 4-seater plane struggles to gain altitude.

“To be honest, I wasn’t concerned until, I still felt even as I saw come into the trees, I thought my dad would pull us out of it and that we’d be okay,” said Gropp.

However, the plane hit an air pocket that pushed them down into the trees.

The four passengers miraculously survived the crash sustaining only minor injuries.

Here is the YouTube description of the video which was uploaded on August 4, 2012:

“This is unprecedented footage of a small airplane crash from inside the cockpit from two different views. Miraculously, everyone survived. The pilot will make a full recovery and the rest of us escaped with superficial injuries and feel very lucky to be alive . This trip was much anticipated and due to our excitement we had our Gopro cameras filming at various times. After flying up into the mountains for a hike in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness we were planning on flying to a small mountain town for dinner. Due to warming temperatures we had a hard time gaining altitude. After taking off we hit an air pocket that made us rapidly loose altitude, pushing us down into the trees. The cameras were left on for a couple of hours during the aftermath. Thank you to all the many individuals who eventually came to our aid and took the time and effort to help in any way they could. We appreciate you more than you know.”
