An OFW’s Success Story in ‘Krusada’ this Thursday

Many overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) suffer from debt and financial problems despite earning big from their jobs abroad. How then should an OFW and his family handle their finances so they don’t waste years of hard work and sacrifice?

This Thursday (Sept 13) in “Krusada,” broadcast journalist Henry Omaga-Diaz will feature the success story of OFW Bonnie Berzamina, who was able to fund her siblings’ college education, bought a house in the Philippines, and will soon put up her own business in Canada.

How did Bonnie, a former caregiver and now a pharmacy employee, able to make it? How should an OFW’s family in the Philippines manage and grow their money? Henry documented her and other OFWs’ stories during his recent visit to Iqaluit, Northern Canada.

Only 30% out of 15 million OFWs are able to save up for their future and help their families despite their growing salary, according to Atikha, a non-governmental organization that provides economic and social services to OFWs and their families in the Philippines.
