‘Krusada’ Pays Tribute to Outstanding Educators in the Country for National Teachers’ Month

Broadcast journalist Karen Davila will pay tribute to Filipino teachers who exhibit extraordinary dedication to their profession and have made a difference in their own communities in a special episode for National Teachers’ Month this Thursday (Sept 20) in “Krusada.”

“With inadequate employment benefits and classroom facilities, our teachers stay devoted to advancing the quality of education in the Philippines,” Karen said.

Karen will feature the inspiring stories of outstanding educators who were awarded and deemed as role models by the Metrobank Foundation.

Rizal Vidalo of Cavite, who has been teaching for eleven years, invented a teaching module that enhanced the science performance of the students in his school as shown by the National Achievement Test results. Galcoso Alburo of Marikina, meanwhile, crafted the licensure exam for teachers with major in Filipino and was honored hero during the typhoon Ondoy.

How do teachers remain motivated to teach despite their lack of hospitalization and retirement benefits? Will the Department of Education finally address teachers’ needs given that its allocation in the 2013 national budget has been increased?

Because it takes more than words to take a stand, watch “Krusada” this Thursday (Sept 20) after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN or watch it earlier on DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable Channel 26), 9:15 p.m. For updates on the program, follow @krusadaTV on Twitter or like www.facebook.com/Krusada.
