Members of Entertainment Press Experience ‘It’s Showtime’ and ‘Deal’ in ABS-CBN Media Christmas Party

Members of the entertainment press got to experience the energetic vibe as madlang people in “It’s Showtime” and got a taste of what it’s like to be the 24K briefcase girls and play as contestants in “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” at ABS-CBN’s Christmas party for the entertainment media held last night (Dec 4) at the Dolphy Theater.

ABS-CBN treated the movie scribes and bloggers to a party headlined by “It’s Showtime” and “Deal” with hosts Vhong Navarro, Billy Crawford, Luis Manzano, Jhong Hilario, Jugs Jugueta, Ryan Bang, Coleen Garcia, and Eric Tai rousing the audience to cheers and laughter. Alex Castro, Bryan Termulo, and Markki Stroem also serenaded and bonded with the press in the party hosted by Jobert Sucaldito and Ogie Diaz.

“It’s Showtime” made a special edition of “Sine Mo ‘To” comedic skit inspired by the story of anti-holiday fictional character Grinch and led by Vhong, Billy, Jhong, Jugs, Ryan, and Coleen. They were joined on stage by movie writers Rommel Placente, Leo Bukas, Letty Celi, Timmy Basil, Eric Borromeo, and Beth Gelena who enthusiastically volunteered and performed supporting roles.

For the press version of “Deal,” Nestor Cuartero, Sandy Mariano, Joey Sarmiento, Joseph Gonzales, and Gabby Libarios were drawn out to play as a team and tried their luck in winning the P100,000 jackpot. In an exhilarating game, they luckily eliminated all the small amounts and outwitted Banker to win the P50,000 contained in their chosen briefcase.

A playful twist also marked the exciting show with 12 female glammed up entertainment journalists transformed into runway models holding the briefcases alongside the real 24K girls for the game show-cum-model search.

The “Press K Model Search 2012” contestants brought the house down. Veteran entertainment journalist Mercy Lejarde strutted on stage with her signature walk and ultimately clinched the grand title. Demai Sunio-Granali of PEP and Marinel Cruz of Philippine Daily Inquirer were named runners-up.

ABS-CBN head of broadcast Cory Vidanes also showed up and thanked the entertainment press and bloggers for their continued support for the network’s programs and artists, then formally introduced Laurenti Dyogi as ABS-CBN’s new head of TV production.

ABS-CBN raffled away over P400,000 worth of cash prizes, appliances, and gadgets for the event, whose biggest hits included the debut of the Kapamilya station ID “Lumiliwanag ang Mundo sa Kwento ng Pasko.” An ensemble of entertainment journalists performing and lip-synching to the network’s holiday theme song appeared in the video, which is now available on the ABS-CBN Social Media Newsroom at www.abscbnpr.com.

The program also featured the noontime show’s segment “It’s Call Time,” presented by Jugs and Coleen, where contestants called different mobile numbers to participate in a guessing game and win cash prizes.
