“Lincoln” leads the pack with 12 nods, followed by “Life of Pi,” which secured 11 nominations. These two films are considered this year’s frontrunners for Best Picture although other nominees like “Silver Linings Playbook,” “Argo,” “Zero Dark Thirty” and “Les Miserables” can make an upset.

85-year-old Emmanuelle Riva became the oldest Best Actress nominee in history and her movie “Amour” is both nominated in Best Picture and Best Foreign Language Film categories.

Ben Affleck was snubbed in the Best Director category.
