Today is "Araw ng Kagitingan," the day GMA Network launched it's new "Lupang Hinirang" music video following the cinematic version that the network launched in 2010 featuring Kapuso stars and that won for the network a bronze medal at the New York Festivals.

But contrary to the previous version, the new “Lupang Hinirang” music video does not have any celebrity in it. Instead, it features ordinary people representing modern day heroes like a fire fighter saving an infant in a burning building, a teacher who walks a mile to school daily, a farmer who toils the land under the scorching heat of the sun to fend for his family, a traffic enforcer who continues to do his job despite being soaked in heavy rains, a doctor who compassionately attends to the medical needs of those in the barrios, overseas workers who endure being away from their loved ones in the hope of giving them a better future, an athlete who brings pride to his country, and several others. If the 2010 music video pays tribute to the heroes of Philippine history, the 2013 version honors the heroism of the modern Filipino here and abroad.

The 3-minute music video will become part of the network’s sign on and sign off messages, and will be shown in SM cinemas nationwide before the first and last screening of movies.
