‘Hiwaga’ Features Story of a Blind Man Who Gains His Sight Back

Broadcast journalist Atom Araullo investigates the miracle that has granted market vendor Mang Napoleon his eyesight back after an encounter with the Virgin Mary this Friday (May 17) in “Pinoy True Stories: Hiwaga.”

Mang Napoleon has been blind for many years after he suffered from glaucoma. Despite this, he continued to work hard, selling tinapa and banana cue near a church, so as to provide a good future for his daughter. He received discrimination from his fellow vendors and buyers and was nearly run over by a vehicle yet he held on to his faith and hoped for better things to come.

Everything changed when one day, he had an encounter with the Virgin Mary whom he recognizes as Apong Lourdes. Since the apparition, Mang Napoleon saw a brighter future ahead of him as he was able to see things once more and has his sight back.

From a life of nothing but misfortune, was it his optimism and faith that has saved him? Or is his illness nothing but a passing disease that healed on its own?
