Vice Ganda‘s “rape joke” about Jessica Soho has been talk of the town the whole day, Tuesday, after a video clip from his recent concert went viral on YouTube. The clip features the gay comedian poking fun on the journalist’s weight by saying if Soho was a bold star in a movie, the scene would have to involve a “gang rape.”

GMA News Online has released Soho’s official statement on Tuesday afternoon saying: “Rape is not a joke and should never be material for a comedy concert.”

The Vice President for News and Public Affairs of GMA Network also expressed her gratitude to her colleagues who defended her from the comedian’s “cruel joke”:

“I thank all those who shared my hurt and expressed their support, but this should not be about me but about rape victims who suffer tremendously from this terrible crime. The horrors they go through are unspeakable and should never be taken lightly, especially by way of a cruel joke,” she said.

As of this posting, Vice Ganda‘s camp has not yet issued their own statement or clarification about the issue.
