GMA Network Releases Statement on ‘Rape Joke’ in ‘Bubble Gang’
Following the issue about Vice Ganda‘s “rape joke” that offended veteran journalist Jessica Soho which was ignited by a video clip of the comedian’s sketch in recent concert, another clip surfaced the net showing a series of “rape jokes” in the Kapuso gag show “Bubble Gang.”
GMA-7, in a statement released on Friday, is hoping that the program will not be used to divert the attention of the public from recent “rape joke” issue. The Kapuso Network also said that all personalities involved in the show have already apologized and imposed a policy not to tackle the sensitive issue in their future episodes.
“Video clips of GMA Network’s Entertainment Program “Bubble Gang” have been circulating the past few days showing gags about rape. We would like to clarify that these video clips were aired several years back. In fact, a concerned viewer called the attention of the Network regarding this and the production team of Bubble Gang right away apologized to her and has made it a policy never to tackle the said topic in any of its episodes thereafter.
Bubble Gang has been a top-rating and award-winning program of GMA 7 for almost 18 years. The Network hopes that the program will not be used to divert the attention of the viewers, netizens and the general public from a recent event which has irresponsibly made a joke of this serious topic.”

Pati si Nancy Binay eh tinitira din nia dahil alam niang mabait ung tao. Ung bubble gang, naman, nag apologize na sila na may sinseridad after ipalabas un ay di tulad nung kay vice na nagmamalaki pa sia na parang mas magaling sia dahil iintindihin na lang daw nia ung mga tumutuligsa sa kanya. well, aral kay vice yan na ang comedy ay hindi panlalait ng kapwa. dapat matututo sia sa sinabi ni dolphy na ang pagpapatawa ay hindi panlalait sa iba. domino effect yan sa career ni vice. his career is like a comet that crosses the evening sky…gone too soon!

Ang nagagawa nga naman ng freedom. Wala ng katapusanng comment na maaanghang. Minsan naman ibigay natin ang respeto sa mga taong nagbibigay satin ng saya at pagbabalita. Both parties have their own reasons at ang magagawa na lang natin ay unawain ang bawat isa. Kung ang mga panlalait ay pakakawalan nyo sa magkabilang network di na talaga makakausad ang industriyang ito sa ating bansa. Sana suportahan na lang natin kung sino gusto natin at iwasan na lang ang pagbibitiw ng mga salitang nakasasakit sa kapuwa. It’s not ABS who leaked the video out. It could be a fan or someone who saw the episode but did not bother as it was not notable that time.
Since GMA brought the issue out, this person knew GMA was not too clean after all. The person is simply giving a message that you must not speak as if you don’t have any dirt of your own.
JS is indeed an award-winning journalist, that’s already a given. Comedy bar style of joke do not choose who to pick on. Alangan naman yung di kilala ang e example. But let us also note that she is not the only person VG mentioned in that said concert. Even in the past, VG picked on the former President now Congresswoman GMA.
JS has to make up her mind as to what issue really is bothered about. Do not pretend to be hurt for the issue on ‘rape’ if the real score is about you being picked on about your weight. It’s a wake-up call that you should lose weight. You’re no longer young. You have the resources. You have an image to protect. Do not show that your weight is an excuse. Respect yourself first. Being fit is a sign of self-respect. Show to the people that exercise is very important — to keep your health.
It’s true that this is also a wake-up call to VG. Time will come that not all jokes will be funny. What’s important is that you realized that you made a mistake and that you’re accountable to it. Continue reinventing your craft. You’re a work in progress.
We are not perfect. But this being imperfect makes us perfect.

Ewan ko ba sa mga sumasamba kay Jessica Soho kesyo respetado na journalist, multi awarded blah blah blah. Nagka award si Jessica Soho dahil sa content ng mga inereport nya, na nakalap dahil sa mga researcher at “mga behind the cam” people. Sila ang dapat magkaaward. The way she delivers her report is annoying. May tono na pangit pakinggan.
Nobody complained about the episode of Bubble Gang because not all watched/is watching the show. When the video surfaced, just like Vice’s, only then people talked about it.
BAD – Vice Ganda MENTIONED rape in a live concert where not all have access to.
WORSE – Bubble Gang ACTED about rape on a national television.
Action speaks louder than words!

Kung ikukumpara ung gravity nung joke .. di hamak na mas irresponsable ung Bubble Gang kasi nga they should the time to edit the whole rape joke at ung kay Vice live ung pagpapatawa nya. Besides hindi naman ung joke eh about rape .. pinagtatawanan nya si Jessica Soho na baboy ang itsura. Kaya nagalit si JS .. pinalalaki ung rape joke where in fact sya ung object nung katatawanan.

So ibig sabihin kung si VG ngayon lang pinag-usapan ung sa kanya, kayong mga taga-GMA noon niyo pa ginagawa.. Walang excuse sa mga ganitong bagay lalo na sa istasyon niyo unang lumabas na sensitibo ang issue ang rape at di dapat ginagawang biro..
