‘Tapatan ni Tunying’ Premieres July 18

Broadcast journalist Anthony “Tunying” Taberna will satisfy the curiosity of the public on issues and controversies about society’s trending people in his new current affairs program “Tapatan ni Tunying” (TNT), which begins on Thursday (July 18).

Tapatan ni Tunying

Known for his hard hitting commentaries and spontaneity in reporting, Tunying grills personalities and asks bold and hilarious questions that will elicit direct answers, and at the same time, tickle the viewers’ funny bone.

For its pilot episode, controversial Roman Catholic priests Father Jess Siva, Fr. Hector Canto, and Fr. Elmer Cajilig will take the hot seat to share their thoughts on opposing the mandatory celibacy among priests and nuns, which also forbids them to marry.

Though remain unmarried, Fr. Siva and Fr. Cajilig have children, while Fr. Canto is married to Cynthia, a municipal hall worker in Dumangas, Iloilo. His highly controversial wedding in 1998 was officiated by Fr. Siva.

The three priests advocate optional celibacy for Catholic priesthood, claiming that the certain church law has not been dictated by the Holy Bible.

Aside from hurling daring questions about their unpopular beliefs and advocacy, Tunying also gets personal with them as he discusses the women in their lives. How does the Catholic Church react on these? Are there chances for their advocacy to be granted?
