TV5’s FIBA Asia 2013 Coverage Dominates TV Ratings

Over 5 million Filipinos watched the local coverage of the FIBA Asia 2013 games during its timeslot on August 10-11, making TV5 the weekend primetime winner of the ratings game.

According to the Mega Manila TV audience measurement (MEGATAM) overnight data of Nielsen Media Research, TV5’s coverage of the heart-stopping game of Gilas Pilipinas against South Korea in the semifinal round on August 10 garnered 33.1% audience share while GMA7 averaged 30.1% and ABS-CBN got 24.3%.

After the dramatic win of the national team against South Korea, TV5 continued to lead the ratings on August 11, Sunday with its coverage of the finals game when Gilas Pilipinas battled for gold with basketball powerhouse Iran. MEGATAM data show that TV5 took 38.1% audience share, a massive 20-point lead against ABS-CBN with 18.3%, GMA with 31.5%. National Urban TV audience measurement (NUTAM) data show the same winning trend with TV5’s 35.3% shares equivalent to 5.7 million Filipinos tuned in the game, leading GMA’s 28.1% and ABS-CBN’s 25%.

    And back to TV5, binasa ko din ang Sunday sked… Purong movies aside from TP Worldwide Battle Royale???
