McConaughey, Blanchett Lead Winners at the 20th Screen Actors Guild Awards
Although several other creative units are scheduled to also vote for the Oscar winners like the screenplay writers and the cinematographers, results in the acting categories at the two award-giving bodies will be, more or less, the same.
At the 20th edition of the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Matthew McConaughey continues his winning streak after winning at the Golden Globes and the Critics Choice. He took home the SAG Best Actor trophy for Dallas Buyers Club, back-to-back with his co-actor Jared Leto who also won as Best Supporting Actor. Leto too had a sweep of the trophies for that category from the Golden Globes to the Critics Choice.
Also a Golden Globe and Critics Choice winner, Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine) shut Sandra Bullock (Gravity) and Meryl Streep (August: Osage County) for Best Actress. Lupita Nyong’O (12 Years A Slave), meanwhile, takes a 2 to 1 advantage over Jennifer Lawrence (American Hustle) after winning at the Critics Choice and the SAGs. Lawrence took home the Golden Globe for that category.
