The good news is, Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) has acquired another franchise title. The number of crowns are now brought to five as a Binibining Pilipinas-Intercontinental will be chosen this year.

This is an addition to the existing Miss Universe- Philippines, Binibining Pilipinas International, Binibining Pilipinas Tourism Queen International and Binibining Pilipinas Supranational titles. This also means that they will have more trouble on who to pick to be our delegates for these international beauty contests.

While there is no doubt Miss Universe- Philippines is the most prestigious no matter how BPCI insists that they are equal in rank, knowing each international pageant and selecting which girl shall best represent the country remains to be such a daunting task.

There are the existing standards: the morena beauty and the fierce for Miss Universe, the mestiza and the more sophisticated for Miss International, the charming and the more personable for Miss Tourism Queen International and with the absence of the Question and Answer segment, the head-turner but not the smartest for Miss Supranational.

But who should be Miss Intercontinental? Mutya ng Pilipinas chose our representative in the previous years which saw Andrea Koreen Medina placing Third Runner-up in the pageant held in Germany on December 14, 2013. Based on how the pageant is being done, it would be safe to assign our second choice for Miss Universe as our Miss Intercontinental delegate. Venezuela and USA had the most Miss Intercontinental crowns, winning 5 each and are trailed by Puerto Rico, Colombia, India and Brazil with 2 wins each. Tracking down how these countries select their representatives, the winning trend follows that of Miss Universe.

For this year’s batch, who do you think should be chosen to represent the Philippines in the international pageants. With an interesting mix of morenas, mestizas and Asian beauties, we have chosen the girls who holds the biggest chances to be judges’ favorites.
