During the launch of “Say No to Ngilo” campaign by Sensodyne and Philippine Dental Association on March 27, Thursday at the Makati Shangrila Hotel, brand ambassador Luis Manzano shared his fear of dentists when he was young.

“I have a pet peeve when it comes to dentists. In fact it’s borderline pet peeve slash phobia. It’s not to the point that I can’t sit down, I could, I would, but my mind is going through hell because of sensitive teeth,” he said.

“When I was younger I bit the hand of my dentist. She was nice but the fact na mabilis talaga ako mangilo, I bit her hand, he added.

Because of this fear, the host/actor revealed that in any dental procedure, he has to be sedated.

“Trivia. For any dental procedure, I would have to be sedated. When I say sedated I mean knocked out for three to four hours even for cleaning even though my teeth were not that bad. You know for any procedure like for example filling, simple cleaning, I have to be sedated because I do not understand how you guys do it sitting down with sharp aparatus that goes ziiit ziiit It is not exactly the most pleasant thing to hear and feel. Siguro partly to blame was my sensitive teeth,” he narrated.

The host of Voice of the Philippines Kids edition delightfully shared with the members of the press and bloggers how he overcame sensitive teeth and eventually conquered his fear of dentists.

“But with my last visit to the Dentist, I think it was last October when I started to use Sensodyne. When she has gone to the procedure, I was ok. I don’t have to be sedated again.

“Funny thing was, right after the procedure, my dentist literally started clapping and I could honestly feel that she was about to cry. Parang bagong panganak, siya ‘yung nanay. ‘Luis I am so so proud of you’ tapos hinug niya ako. She was thanking God that I was able to withstand the procedure without getting sedated,” he added.

Luis further tackled how Sensodyne made a big difference in his life.

“Sometimes, during meetings and socializing, my enjoyment is cut short because of pangingilo. I just endure the pain so it doesn’t ruin my day or my night out,” shares Manzano, who is also active in charitable activities. “When I started using Sensodyne, it made a big difference in my life! I don’t worry anymore about my sensitive teeth when I interact with people. Now, I get to enjoy my favorite drinks along with everyone else and I could eat anything I want. No more pagtitiis, no more pangingilo!”
