Iglesia ni Cristo, via their Facebook page @INCcentraltemple, made a confirmation that Kathryn Bernardo is still an active member of the church despite rumors that the Teen Queen has just been excommunicated ("tiniwalag").

The rumors about Kathryn’s supposed excommunication started after reports about her and on-screen partner Daniel Padilla’s “confirmed relationship” surfaced last December (CLICK HERE FOR RELATED ARTICLE). It’s a known doctrine that INC members are prohibited to have relationship to non-INC members or those outside their faith. Once proven that a member disobeyed this doctrine, he/she will be excommunicated from the church (“tiwalag”).

Since Kathryn was being rumored for being the girlfriend of Daniel Padilla and that they are no longer just an on-screen loveteam but an official couple as well, their legions of fans are wondering if the Teen Queen has been forsaken by her religion.

Recent photos of Kathryn and Daniel on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram show the loveteam getting closer to each other more than friends. They were snapped during their free time walking on the street of Oslo Norway holding hands and there are also photos of them hugging each other. Last December, a fan took a photo of the young pair at the airport which looked they they were kissing and the next day, it became a national headline. The two, however, denied the rumors.

So for those who are asking if Kathryn is still a member of “Iglesia Ni Cristo” after the rumors about her “confirmed” relationship with Daniel. who is a Catholic, the religious sect made an informal and unofficial statement:
