Chef Boy Logro Gives a Culinary Scholarship on His Birthday

Chef Boy 11

To a person that has been given much, much is expected of him/her – that exactly is the case when it comes to Kapuso Cooking Star Chef Pablo Logro, fondly called “Chef Boy.”

A man that has been truly blessed in his life, Chef Boy Logro is a real-life “Culinary Cinderella” as his life is truly an inspiring one. Hailing from Kawayan Biliran Province, Chef Boy is the second son among eight children. Throughout his life he used his talents, wit and hardwork to get to where he is now.

He worked as a service crew for a popular fastfood chain, a dishwasher, janitor and helper but eventually he became a Sous Chef for the King of Oman or at Qaboos bin Said al Said’s Palace.

His stint at the Palace brought him to different countries like Italy, Switzerland, Spain and United Kingdom where he learned several food styles.

When he came back to the Philippines, he didn’t know anyone to help him so he started with a rank and file job with only Php 12,000 salary at Diamond Hotel. However it wasn’t long as his skills in conversing in Japanese, his regal way of presentation and relating to people (he used to serve the King of Oman remember?), his happy disposition and humble demeanor he soon became the country’s first ever Filipino Executive Chef in a five star hotel.

Today Chef Boy is not just a Culinary Consultant but also a famous chef who owns the “7 Flavors” restaurant in San Juan, a Cooking school in Cavite and soon in Davao, a star of his own Cooking shows – BOY LOGRO: KUSINA MASTER and IDOL SA KUSINA both for the Kapuso network, have nurtured hundred of scholars under his wing, has his own purified water business and even built a Church with his own money.

Today, he celebrated his 59th birthday at his very own Chef Logro Institute of Culinary and Kitchen School (CLICKS) in GMA, Cavite. Hosted by Tess Bomb, Chef Boy’s birthday program started with her Welcoming Remarks and Introduction of Chef Boy.

During her preliminary spiels, she personally expressed her admiration for this Executive Chef who had humble beginnings who eventually became one of the country’s most respectable Executive Chef. In her introduction, she pointed out that he is a person that no matter where life takes him, or how prosperous he had became, he still has his both feet on the ground.

For today’s birthday celebration, Chef Boy shares his blessings with the Cavite State University Students where in four of its students were given a Cooking Challenge, they are Joanecel D. Aspera, John Mark Anthony R. Gloria, Princess Xenica M. Patoc and Gellene C. Violata.

These four students were asked to create their most unique, most “Angel Kremdensada” dessert in 30 minutes. The winner in this competition will win a scholarship at CLICKS (Bread and Pastry Prodution NC II). The judges for this competition were Chef Boy himself and the students’ Dean Dean Dra. Yolanda Ilagan.

After the deliberation and while the scores were being calculated, Chef Boy’s family and CLICKS’ Employees had a special production number where they sang their own version of the “Happy Birthday Song”, followed by random greetings to our birthday celebrant.

All participants were given a Certificate of Participation and special prizes from Angels Kremdensada, Omega Housewares. For today’s competition, Princess Xenica M. Patoc wins the grand prize for her dessert.

To cap the celebration, guests once again were game in singing the birthday song for Chef Boy before he blew the candle of his birthday cake. This was followed by a mini merienda and distribution of party souvenirs from the activity’s sponsors – GMA Artist Center, Aquabest, Angels Kremdensada, Omega Housewares, Nescafe Smoovlatte, CLICKS (Chef Logro Institute of Culinary and Kitchen School), Scent for Senses.
