UAAP Finals Game 2 and Pinoy Pride 34 to Air Live on ABS-CBN this Weekend

ABS-CBN Sports has lined up a delicious offering for sports fans across the country this coming weekend: Game 2 of the UAAP Finals and the 34th edition of Pinoy Pride. The two events will be aired live on ABS-CBN on Saturday (November 28) and Sunday (November 29) respectively.

Will the FEU Tamaraws finally finish their business after faltering last year? Or will the UST Growling Tigers channel shades of their 2006 title run to fuel their comeback?

History has not been kind to both schools lately. FEU failed to capitalize against Ateneo during Season 73 and against NU last season. UST, on the other hand, fell short in stopping Ateneo’s fifth-straight title in Season 75 and against La Salle on a return trip in Season 76.

Between the two of the U-belt based squads, FEU boasts of a deeper line up, having the luxury of playing their Big Three of Mac Belo, Mike Tolomia, and RR Pogoy no more than 25 minutes a game and can turn to the likes of Russell Escoto, Achie Inigo and defensive ace Ron Dennison for stretches as the main guns get some breathers. UST has the better starting five that is anchored by their own Big Three of Kevin Ferrer, Karim Abdul, and Ed Daquioag. However, the Tigers have their work cut out for them, especially for Louie Vigil and rookies Mario Bonleon and Marvin Lee.

Fireworks are expected once the Awarding Ceremony, which starts at 2 PM simultaneously on ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN Sports + Action, for individuals such as the MVP, Rookie of the Year, and Mythical Team are over. Do not miss heart-stopping basketball action this Saturday (November 28) for Game 2 of the UAAP Season 78 Finals.

Part of ABS-CBN Sports’ weekend blockbuster is the live airing of Pinoy Pride 34 fightcard dubbed “Back with a Vengeance” on Sunday (November 29).

Witness Milan “El Metodico” Melindo and “King” Arthur Villanueva prove doubters wrong whether they still have what it takes for top-notch competition on the ring. Both fighters are coming off losses in previous fights and are raring to come back with big wins.

Melindo is out to debunk hearsays that he is over his peak form, claiming that he was deeply disappointed when his last fight was stopped due to injuries. “This coming Pinoy Pride, I want to show to everybody that I am the best that ALA Gym has to offer,” Melindo added.

Villanueva for his part, is looking to bounce back from a surprise defeat. “I still dream of becoming a world champion. I want everybody to know that when I step on the ring for Pinoy pride 34,” the youngster said.

Coverage of the “UAAP Season 78” Finals start at 2PM on ABS-CBN with the Awards ceremonies followed by Game 2 of the title match between FEU and UST at 3PM on Saturday (November 28). “Pinoy Pride 34: Back with a Vengeance” will start at 10AM on Sunday (November 29) with a replay at ABS-CBN Sports + Action at 9PM after the replay of the NBA game slated for that day.
