Following the success of Metro Manila Film Festival hits like “Sisterakas,” “Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy,” and “Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” comes “Beauty and the Bestie,” another joint production of Star Cinema and Viva Films for the annual event starring Vice Ganda.

Gist: A secret agent recruits his old best friend to help in his mission to defend a beauty pageant contestant.
The Positive: Compared with previous Vice Ganda-Wenn Deramas collaboration in MMFF, “Beauty and the Bestie” has a near-solid story behind the abundance of gags and silly jokes that we come to expect from a Vice Ganda movie. You can see that they put a little more effort in making sense. Furthermore, the stunts, car chase and helicopter scene are pretty decent.
Acting-wise, Vice Ganda is still the master of comedic timing while Coco Martin proves that he can also make people laugh.
The Negative:
Some of the jokes used in the movie feels old while a few dramatic scenes feel awkward.

To prove this claim, there is a scene in the movie where Coco is asking Vice to help him in the operation. Vice said “KUNG GUSTO MONG GUMANDA ANG EKONOMIYA, DUN KA KAY MAR ROXAS”. Vice Ganda uttered this word which obviously a clear support to Mar’s presidential bid. It is a shame that this president wannabe is using the MMFF for his personal gain.
So to all ANTI-MAR ROXAS. Don’t watch Beauty and the Bestie. The more you watch BATB, the more you also support MAR ROXAS.
