The UAAP Juniors Basketball tournament is nearing its end with the National University Bullpups winning Game 1 against the De La Salle-Zobel Junior Archers last week. League MVP and coveted high school prospect Aljun Melecio was overshadowed by the Bullpups’ John Lloyd Clemente and Justine Baltazar, who snatched 27 rebounds to go with 15 points in their first meeting in the Finals. The Junior Archers will need more than Melecio if they are to stop the Bullpups from sweeping the entire Juniors basketball tourney on Friday (February 26), at 2pm.

Meanwhile, in the wildly popular UAAP Women’s Volleyball tournament, the Ateneo Lady Eagles, led by reigning Most Valuable Player Alyssa Valdez, will put their unblemished record on the line as they battle a retooled La Salle squad that’s hot on their trail especially with a strong season so far from the troika of Ara Galang, Mika Reyes, and Kim Fajardo. Game day is set on Saturday (February 27) at 4pm at the Araneta Coliseum. Before this much-awaited match, the finalists in last year’s Men’s Volleyball Tournament, the Ateneo Blue Eagles and NU Bulldogs will meet at 10 am, while the University of the East Lady Warriors and Adamson University Lady Falcons battle at 12:30pm.

Down in the Queen City of the South, WBO Intercontinental Jr. Featherweight champion “Prince” Albert Pagara is headlining “Pinoy Pride 35,” dubbed “Stars of the Future,” with two rising stars in boxing, Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo and fellow ALA boxer KJ Cataraja. All knockout artists and with zero losses in their young careers, the fighters promise another explosive edition of Pinoy Pride as they duel contenders from abroad. The fight will be broadcast on Sunday (February 28), 10am on ABS-CBN Channel 2 and 9pm on ABS-CBN Sports + Action.

NBA fans will also have a great weekend with ABS-CBN Sports + Action’s live broadcast of the San Antonio Spurs-Utah Jazz game on Friday (February 26) at 11:30 am and the Golden State Warriors-Oklahoma City Thunder game on Sunday (February 28) at 9:30am. Channel 2 will also air the game between the Charlotte Hornets and Indiana Pacers at 8:30am on Saturday (February 27).
