“Hi-5 Philippines”, the Filipino adaptation of the Australian children’s edu-tainment (education -entertainment) series of the same title, has recently been cited by the annual Anak TV Seal as one of the winners of its 2016 awards for best children shows. Hi-5 Philippines was cited for its conveyance of Filipino values, customs and tradition through its colorful song and dance numbers that kids surely love to see. Other TV5 shows that garnered honors included the health magazine program “Healing Galing”, the parenting talk-show “Happy Wife, Happy Life”, the catholic program, “Power to Unite” and children-fantasy show “LolaBasyang.com” which has been honored as a finalist of the prestigious Prix Jeunesse Awards in Germany. “Power to Unite” airs every Sunday, 7:00 am followed by “Healing Galing,” 7:30 am.

Over 250 entries were submitted for this year’s Anak TV nominations but only 101 received the coveted Anak TV Seal. The iconic seal on Philippine television, Anak TV, is bestowed by parents, teachers, NGOs and other sectors of the society that advocates the cause of child-friendly programs and bestows honors on selected entertainment shows, news programs and personalities “worthy of emulation.”
