Piolo Pascual, Pokwang, Yeng Constantino, and LizQuen Flew to Sydney for ‘Tatak Star Magic in Australia’

Through the years, Kapamilya stars have been making waves not only in the Philippines but also in the international realm via The Filipino Channel’s (TFC) programs, movies and events.

Recently, as part of TFC’s continuous efforts to provide the platform for these homegrown celebrities to shine as well to link global Kapamilyas back home, the network, together with Star Magic provided another avenue to make that connection via the recently concluded “Tatak Star Magic in Australia” at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Stadium.

As a way for TFC to continuously bridge the distance and as Star Magic’s way of thanking Filipinos for their support throughout their 25 years of existence, they brought some of the biggest names in the Philippine industry to reach out and personally thank their fans in the Land Down Under.

Five of the biggest names in the Star Magic stable – Piolo Pascual, Liza Soberano, Enrique Gil, Pokwang and Yeng Constantino – flew to Sydney for “Tatak Star Magic in Australia.”

“We at TFC want Kapamilyas all over to world not only to see their favorite stars in their TV screens or mobile gadgets. We also want them to have that opportunity to see them live or even interact with them in a way that lets them experience the Kapamilya spirit and love,” said Ailene Averion, ABS-CBN Asia Pacific managing director.

Bringing in the one of the loudest cheers during the event were the performances of Soberano and Gil more popularly known as LizQuen. They performed covers such as “Closer” by Chainsmokers and Juris Fernandez’s version of “Your Love.”   The thrills grew higher as they performed the theme song of their recently concluded series “Dolce Amore.”

Soberano and Gil’s individual dance performances managed to bring the crowd to their feet as well. The Kapamilyaactress donned in her black latex pants and backless top get-up surprised everyone with her song and dance number of the hit single “Don’t Let Me Down” by Chainsmokers.  Meantime, Dance Royalty Gil showed some smooth dance moves to the tune of “Juju on the Beat” by international rappers Zay Hilfigerrr and Zayion McCall.

Meantime, comedienne Pokwang showcased her singing prowess with a medley of iconic Filipino band Aegis’ hit singles “Luha,” “Basang Basa sa Ulan” and “Halik” Pokwang’s surprise didn’t end there as she gave away one of her gowns to a fan during the show.

One of the most-talked about segments in the concert was Pokwang’s hilarious comment on Soberano’s look at the 10th Star Magic Ball where she was named Best Dressed Female.  Her comment came in after a photo of the comedienne-actress donning a similar hairstyle as Soberano was sporting during the ball, was flashed onscreen, much to the amusement of the audience.

Soberano explained herself: “Totoo, hindi ko nakita ang picture na ‘yon, kaya hindi kita ginaya.”  However, Pokwang was insistent and Soberano retorted: “Hindi, hindi. Ako talaga ang peg mo. Aminin mo ‘yan!,” which elicited laughter from the crowd.

Rockoustic Superstar Constantino also indulged the crowd in her original hits namely “Ikaw,” “Hawak Kamay,” and “Chinito. Her duet with the Ultimate Heartrob Pascual was also well-applauded as they performed the song “Paano Ba Magmahal?” The song was composed by Constantino for Pascual’s blockbuster film “The Breakup Playlist” with Sarah Geronimo.

Pascual also made the audience swoon with his solo performance of the songs “With a Smile” by Eraserheads, “Starting Over Again” by Natalie Cole, which was remade in his film with the same title with Toni Gonzaga, and “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol.
The five Kapamilya artists capped the night with the iconic Filipino Christmas song “Kumukuti-kutitap,” which made every Filipino at the venue feel the Christmas vibe.

Aside from the much-awaited entertainment, about 600 people from the audience were lucky enough to have a photo opportunity with the Kapamilya stars while some were able to take home prizes from the event partners.
