Young Opera Singer Mica Becerro Gets Standing Ovation in ‘The Voice Teens Philippines’

On the April 22 episode of “The Voice Teens Philippines,” the vocal coaches/judges heard something fresh from a young auditionee that they raced to turn their chairs.

Young singer Mica Becerro performed the Magic Flute version of “Queen of the Night,” an opera piece, during the blind auditions of “The Voice Teens” and she got a standing ovation from the coaches.

Here are their thoughts:

Sarah Geronimo said “Alam mo bago mag-start and competition na ito, ganito ang sinabi ko: ‘gusto kong makahanap ng bata na hindi natatakot na maging iba, original, hindi natatakot magbigay ng bago.'”

Bamboo said “Very brave, amazing performance. Oh my God, may kakanta ng opera dito! Natuwa agad ako sa I smacked that button happily. I would like the challenge to have you in Camp Kawayan, I was blown away.”

Sharon Cuneta said “Ang daming magagawa ng batang ito because you have a very very strong foundation sa training mo. If you give me a chance and pick me as your coach, I will do everything I can to explore these channels with you because I already have been appreciating it.”

Lea Salonga said “Mica you deserved this 4-chair turn. Classical techniques saved my life in the most literal sense. I was in Miss Saigon and that’s not a secret. But my voice, unti-unting nawala. But the producer of the show sent me to a voice technique teacher. The first thing she said, I will teach you classical technique because that will save you. Eh 8 shows a week yun e…I just want to share this with you…sana more aspiring singers take a queue from you.”
