Sandara Park Stars in Her First Korean Movie ‘One Step’

Sandara Park returned to Manila over the weekend to promote her first Korean movie titled “One Step.” Released by Viva International, a subtitled version of the film opens in Philippine cinemas today, May 10, 2017.

“One Step” premiered in Korea last April 6, 2017. It is topbilled by the 2NE1 member together with Han Jae-suk (“All About Eve,” “The Great Merchant,” “Speed Angels”), Cho Dong-in (“The Stone”) and Hong Ah-reum (“Tears of Heaven,” “My Precious You”).

It tells the story of Si-hyun, a girl who lost all her memories after figuring in a car accident. She suffered from a rare condition called colored hearing, a condition that causes her to see sounds in colors which is often disorienting. She meets Ji-won (Hong Ah-reum) in the hospital and her brother Woo-hyuk (Han Jae-suk) who heard her humming during sleep. He writes it down and makes it as a musical score which led them to meet Jee-il, a failed songwriter who offers to help her remember something about her former life. Can Si-hyun regain her memory through music?

During the media conference for Sandara Park‘s “One Step,” the K-pop sensation differentiates movie from TV series production in South Korea.

“Actually, sabi nila, mas mahirap daw pumasok sa movie world kesa sa Koreanovela, so parang I’m very thankful and ito kaya yung destiny ko, na maging movie star, so I’m very happy at nag-enjoy talaga ako sa syuting namin,” she said.

Being a movie and TV actress in the Philippines prior to her joining 2NE1 helped Sandara big time in her first Korean movie.

“Ang laking tulong ng mga ginawa kong movie dito kasi 10 years ago pa ’yon. Akala ko, nakalimutan ko, pero hindi pala. Habang nasa set na parang sanay na sanay ako. Lapag nandiyan yung kamera alam ko kung saan ako pupuwesto at yung mga lighting. Sabi ng mga director at mga camera man, sabi nila, ‘Wow, ang galing. Paano mo ginawa ’yon?’ So, sabi ko, meron akong mga movie dati sa Pilipinas kaya alam na alam ko,” she added.
