As much as we are intrigued on what would be on President Rodrigo Duterte’s speech in today’s State of the Nation Address (SONA), we are also anticipating the red carpet and what various celebrities and personalities will wear.

To show my support for Maranao culture, heritage, livelihood and my commitment to help in the swift and complete rehabilitation of Marawi, I am wearing Maranao outfits both for the Session opening at the Senate in the morning and the President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation Address. An installation by Jun Yee made of Maranao landap malong (tube skirt) and copper wire is on the door of my office. It is symbolic of my hope for the future that peace will prevail through adequate and sustained education.
