ABS-CBN is the No. 1 Philippine TV Network in 2017

Most Filipinos tuned in to the relevant news stories and valuable lessons brought by ABS-CBN in 2017 as the network recorded an average audience share of 46% on both urban and rural homes, or a 12-point lead over GMA’s 34%, according to the full year data from Kantar Media.

ABS-CBN won in the national TV ratings across the country, particularly in Metro Manila where it garnered an average audience share of 40% versus GMA’s 29%. It also beat its rival network in Total Balance Luzon where it registered an average audience share of 48%, compared to GMA’s 36%; in Total Visayas where it got 53%, beating GMA’s 28%; and in Total Mindanao as it hit 53%, while GMA only got 31%.

Multinational audience measurement provider Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes that represent 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population.

Meanwhile, the Kapamilya network also ended the year strongly as it recorded an average audience share of 45% in December, while GMA only got 34%.

Reigning for already two years on primetime, “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” remained as the most watched program for 2017 and was warmly welcomed into households nationwide as it hit an average national TV rating of 38.6%.

Hit reality-talent show for celebrity kids “Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids” also topped the list as it recorded an average national TV rating of 35.7%.

Viewers also witnessed the fulfillment of young singing Pinoys’ dreams in the first edition in Asia of “The Voice Teens,” which hit 34.4%.

Top-rating series “La Luna Sangre” (33.8%), meanwhile, marked the most awaited comeback of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla on television and the reunion of Angel Locsin and Richard Gutierrez.

On the other hand, “TV Patrol” (31.3%) remained as the most watched newscast in the country all year round as it brought timely news and delivered public service to Kapamilyas in different parts of the nation as it celebrated its 30th anniversary.

The young and talented kids of “Little Big Shots” (31.1%) also did not fail to impress viewers nationwide with their charm and irresistible wit that made a mark in people’s hearts.

“Wansapantaym” (29.8%) also gave a magical treat through its values-laden stories every Sunday. “MMK,” meanwhile, (29.6%) continued to bring inspiration with the real life stories of its letter senders on its 25th year.

The touching story of kindness and love in “My Dear Heart” 27.6% captivated audiences nationwide, while “Magpahanggang Wakas” (25%) exhibited the strength of enduring love to audiences.

Also making it to the top 20 were Kapamily sitcom “Home Sweetie Home” (24.2%), one of the most talked about series of 2017 “Wildflower” (23.8%), comedy kiddie show “Goin’ Bulilit” (22.1%), “Kapamilya Weekend Specials (Sunday)” (19.6%), news and current affairs program “Rated K” (19.2%), and noontime variety show “It’s Showtime (Saturday)” (18.6%).

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN also ruled across all time blocks from January to December 2017, particularly on primetime where it registered an average audience share of 50%, or half of the Filipino viewing population and an 18-point lead over GMA’s 32%. The primetime block is the most important time of the day when most Filipinos watch TV and advertisers put a larger chunk of their investments in to reach more consumers effectively.

ABS-CBN also led the morning block (6AM-12NN) where it recorded 39% versus GMA’s 32%; the noontime block (12NN-3PM) where it got a 45%, compared to GMA’s 36%, and the afternoon block (3PM-6PM) after it garnered 43%, beating GMA’s 38%.

  1. Everywhere you go whether in public areas watching TV like buses, public terminals, beauty salon, even government offices, hospitals, carenderias mostly there are tuning in to ABS CBN. Especially the household from Luzon to Mindanao majority love being a kapamilya. The reality is that marami pa ring kapamilya sorry pero that’s the reality. Maraming de calidad na Artista kasi andito kasi ang totoong Kapamilya. It’s where their heart belongs, andaming click the reality show kasi maski mahal ang franchise fee ok lang pinagkagagastosan kasi hindi sila madamot sa kasiyahan ng mga Pilipino. Madalas Laging nauuna sa ideas, at bagong mapapakita kasi lahat ng staff at crew na train, nasala at naging expert sa field nila para pag pinagsamasama mula sa mababang position hanggang sa Pinaka mataas may sobrang galing na maipakita to produce a BEST TV STATION. Di baleng isang channel lang ang makuha sa bahay basta ABSCBN lang.

    Halos lahat ng public buzes naka tvplus ng ABSCBN na dito sa mega and metro manila.

  3. hindi ninanakaw ng abs ang mga artesta ng GMA . kagustuhan nilang lumipat dahil alam nila kung saan sila kuportabli. bakit ang ABS ba palaging nag babalita ng RAtings nila? hindi diba? GMA eh halos araw-arawin ang pag babalita ng rate nila. ANg ABS tahimik lang dahil hindi importante sa kanila ang ratings ang importante sa kanila ay makapaghatid ng magandang programa at mag pasaya ng tao. itu lang ang basihan natin huh ( Ang Probinsyano) sa tingin nyu ba tatagal ng ganyan ang TV show nayan kung hindi pa marami ang manunuod?
