Digitally Restored and Remastered ‘Ikaw ay Akin’ Airs on ABS-CBN’s ‘Sunday’s Best’

Celebrate love this February with the iconic trio of star for all seasons Vilma Santos, drama king Christopher de Leon, and superstar Nora Aunor as ABS-CBN airs the digitally restored and remastered 70s classic film “Ikaw Ay Akin” this Sunday (Feb 4) on “Sunday’s Best.”

Released in 1974, the Ishmael Bernal film was one of the most talked about films back then because it marked the first time the three were seen together in the big screen. The movie also gave birth to the so called “mata-mata” school of acting between Nora and Vilma.

“Ikaw Ay Akin” tells the story of Rex (Christopher), who did not expect to love both Terisita (Nora) and Sandra (Vilma).

Since 2011, ABS-CBN Film Restoration Project has been restoring classic films to help preserve Philippine cinematic history. Together with Central Digital Lab, it has become the first restoration effort to be done within the country.

To date, ABS-CBN Film Restoration Project has already restored over 120 films, some of which were already screened internationally via film fests, screened locally via red carpet premieres, aired on free-to-air and cable television, viewed via pay-per-view and video-on-demand, distributed on DVD, and downloadable even on iTunes.

Don’t forget to watch “Ikaw ay Aking” this Sunday (Feb 4) in “Sunday’s Best,” after “Gandang Gabi Vice” on ABS-CBN or ABS-CBN HD (SkyCable ch 167). More restored films can be watched in the upcoming REELive the Classics in Powerplant Cinema 1 happening on Feb 21 to 27.
