Julius Babao and Bernadette Sembrano Lead ‘DZMM Kapamilya Day’ in Pampanga

“ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya sa DZMM” anchors Julius Babao and Bernadette Sembrano-Aguinaldo left the radio booth once again to bond with Filipino families and deliver public service at the “DZMM Kapamilya Day” held last March 16 in Angeles City, Pampanga.

The duo led the DZMM contingent at Sapang Bato Elementary School that traveled all the way from Manila to conduct medical and dental missions, free legal consultations, livelihood workshop, feeding program, free haircuts and massage, and distribution of reading glasses with partners led by the Office of the Provincial Governor of Pampanga, Local Government of Angeles City, Philippine National Police – Angeles, medical societies, and private companies.

More than a thousand people benefitted from the services offered, while birthday celebrants for March got even more as they received gift packs and cakes. Around 200 attendees also learned how to do chocolate-molding courtesy of the Carl Balita Livelihood & Culinary Training Center, to enable them to earn more income even from their households. Attendees also enjoyed the games, raffle, and free meals and snacks, while kids participated in a storytelling session with the DZMM team aboard DZMM’s Teaching, Learning, Caring classroom-on-wheels.

DZMM launched its “Kapamilya Day” event last year to bring its program and anchors closer to the people, and to give communities a platform to voice out their needs and concerns. Moreover, it is also another way for the station to serve Filipinos, especially those who do not have the means to avail of social services.

This year, ABS-CBN’s flagship AM radio station hopes to reach more Filipinos as it extends its destinations beyond Metro Manila to nearby provinces. Before Pampanga, “DZMM Kapamilya Day” also went to Antipolo last January with “Good Vibes” hosts Nina Corpuz, Marc Leviste, and Dra. Luisa, and in Mandaluyong City with “Magpayo Nga Kayo” anchors May Valle-Ceniza and Joey Lina.

Meanwhile, DZMM TeleRadyo continues to provide a venue for talented global Filipinos with the 2018 “Global Pinoy Singing Idol” (GPSI) competition kicking-off in Athens, Greece on March 24 with guest Kapamilya stars Gerald Anderson and Morissette Amon. Gerald and Morissette will join DZMM anchor Ahwel Paz in entertaining overseas Filipinos at the Gazi Music Hall in Athens, where ten contestants will compete for cash prizes and the chance to become this year’s GPSI Grand Winner.

Now on its eighth year, the GPSI a project of DZMM that serves as a link to home for our kababayans who are looking for a venue to showcase their talents abroad. In 2017, Shaira Garido of Toronto, Canada took home the crown. Daring to follow her footsteps in the event, which will be done in partnership with TFC, the Filipino Channel, are Kirsten Mae Arada, Maria Manzano, Rissa Martinez –Pasion, Faith Andrea, Anthony Carbonel, Charo Francisco, Kleniki Perikleous, Eunice Manigbas, Katherina Palo, and Cleopatra de Guzman, who made it to the final round in the GPSI’s leg in Athens, Greece this March 24.
