Heart Evangelista: The New Face of Luxury French Label Sequoia Paris

This year has been a busy one for Heart Evangelista. Although her acting life has been relatively quiet, she has been making quite a lot of noise in the fashion world.

Just last April, she made history as the first woman ever to grace the cover of Metro Society’s men’s issue. But adding to her most recent achievements, Heart has caught the eye of luxury French label Sequoia. The star had been dropping hints of a possible beauty or fashion collaboration since July, and had finally dropped the official news last week.

CNN reports that on her personal Instagram feed, Heart wrote, “I am happy to formally announce that I am now officially part of the Sequoia Paris family.” She recounts how she used to be a mere admirer of the handbag brand, passing by the Sequoia store along rue Saint Honoré in her previous travels and being stunned by their glamorous line. “Now, it has come full circle! I am honored to be part of this luxury French label,” she continued.

Accompanying her statement is what looks like the first of many campaigns to come: a photo of her holding a Sequoia bag in one hand and a string of colorful balloons in the other, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Eiffel Tower.

So how did this local TV darling bag such a world-class partnership? Having already been a loyal customer for a while now, Heart had posted photos of her bags from Sequoia. According to the label, her exposure and influence led to more people asking about the specific bags included in her posts. Sequoia seized this opportunity and reached out to a close friend of Heart, who then helped make things official.

With that, Heart and her entourage — composed of stylist Kat Cruz, makeup artist Albert Kurniawan, and hairstylist Jeck Aguilar — flew to Paris last July to shoot with Sequoia. She describes her experience as “overwhelming,” and expresses gratitude for being able to work there with her Filipino team.

This isn’t the first time Heart has turned heads. Just recently, she was recognized by Harper’s Bazaar in a Crazy Rich Asians-themed editorial. Appearing alongside Hong Kong fashion influencer Feiping Chang and Malaysian heiresses Michelle and Rachel Yeoh, the feature highlighted them as some of the most fashionable Asian women today. Heart, who is a frequent attendee of Paris Fashion Week, was dubbed “the darling of the Philippines.”

Though she started out as an actress, rising to fame in Ang Tanging Ina and Bcuz of U, Heart eventually became known for her distinct aesthetic and flair for luxury fashion. Heart is hailed as a local style maven, with her elegance and understated chic style inspiring many. While not everyone can afford the same high-end totes, fans can take notes on her other wardrobe staples — like her favorite midi skirt. Pretty Me looked closer at one of her popular looks, pairing a full skirt with a top in the same shade range and accented with yellow pumps. Like her, you can opt to pair your skirts with heels or ankle strap shoes in order to give off the same sophisticated feel.
