The historical drama “100 Days My Prince” from Korea was named by fans/netizens from around the world as the Asian Drama of the Year based on an online survey conducted by Starmometer.com this month.
The K-drama stars Do Kyung-Soo of EXO and Nam Ji-Hyun and it tells the story of a Crown Prince who suffers amnesia and ends up in an relationship with an ordinary citizen at the countryside. It is the fourth highest-rated Korean drama in cable television history when its last episode hit 16.7% joining the ranks of “Goblin,” “Reply 1988,” and “Mr. Sunshine.”
Placing 2nd this year is the Chinese remake of “Meteor Garden” starring Dylan Wang and Shen Yue. It is the sixth TV series adaptation of the Japanase manga “Hana Yori Dango” following the success of Taiwanese, Japanese and Korean versions.
In 3rd place is “My ID is Gangnam Beauty” starring Im Soo-hyang and ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo who won Best New Actor of the Year at the Korea Drama Awards for this drama. It is a TV series adaptation of a popular webtoon in Korea. It’s also one of the highest-rated Korean dramas in cable television.
Round off the Top 5 are Thailand’s “The Crown Princess” and Korea’s “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim.”
