Star Cinema has made a surprise announcement on Tuesday, March 12, 2019. They will be producing a romantic movie this year starring Box Office Queen Kathryn Bernardo and the number one Kapuso Leading Man, Alden Richards!

For the fans of KathNiel, this is somewhat not a surprise at all because they knew all along that their idols Kathryn and her boyfriend Daniel Padilla are set to be paired with other actors. It was announced last year after their movie “The Hows Of Us” set an all-time record at the box office.

For the fans of Alden, it’s a pleasant surprise since his onscreen partner Maine Mendoza recently announced that she’s dating the Kapamilya character actor Arjo Atayde. This news broke the heart of their solid fans, “AlDub,” and somewhat divided them in support of either Maine or Alden.

But now that Alden is making a cross-over to the Kapamilya network and doing a movie with no less than Cathy Garcia-Molina at the helm, the game is about to change.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Alden said it’s an honor to be paired with Kathryn and work with Direk Cathy.

“It’s a great honor and experience kasi I’m really in that stage of exploring the craft and my capability as an actor. As a fan of the movie ‘One More Chance,’ and to be directed by someone who made that film, sobrang fan po kasi ko nung John Lloyd [Cruz] and Bea [Alonzo], parang total package na po — wala na po akong hihingilin, sobrang saya ko po na nabigyan ako ng chance,” he said.

Kathryn on the other hand expressed her excitment for the new project.

“Nae-excite ako kung anong mangyayari dito, kung paano kaming dalawa. Hindi ko talaga alam kung anong mararamdaman pero for sure I’m very happy. Ang laking adjustment nito hindi lang para sa akin, kung hindi para na rin kay Alden,” she said.

The two are set to start filming this April.
